LBA Branches

Ladakh being an extremely large area in which all the villages are scattered across the cold desert, it is more viable to have sub-units of the Ladakh Buddhist Association in different regions of Ladakh. Thus, seven sub-units i.e. Branch Associations have been created as of today.

The General Council Members (GCMs) of Ladakh Buddhist Association from their respective regions of the Branch Association are the members to the working committee of the respective Branch Association. All the General Council Members (GCMs) from their respective branches elect a Branch President for three years. The Branch President so elected form an executive body by appointing a Vice President, General Secretary and a Joint Secretary. The President of each Branch Association is ex-officio member to the General Council and Central Working Committee with voting rights. Every Branch Association is supposed to implement the decisions, directions and instructions of the parent LBA to achieve aims and objectives of the Ladakh Buddhist Association. All the Branch Associations are supposed to work in tandem with the parent LBA. If any branch Association works against the Constitution and objectives of the LBA, the President can seek explanation from the branch President and is empowered to dissolve that branch.
