Ladakh Buddhist Association Women's Wing

The Ladakh Buddhist Association Women's Wing is an organization that seeks to support the empowerment and advancement of women within the framework of Buddhist teachings and practices. It fosters a space where women can engage with their spiritual, social, and cultural development while adhering to the teachings of Buddhism and the Cultural Heritage of Ladakh. This organization works under the umbrella of the LBA and coordinates with LBA Youth Wing in serving the Buddhist Community of Ladakh. 

AIM & OBJECTIVES

To Safeguard and promote the cultural and religious practices that are integral to the Buddhist way of life. These includes organizing religious ceremonies, festivals, and honoring and safeguarding the rich cultural heritage ‘Shesrig’ of Ladakh.

  • Promoting Gender Equality: Advocating for Women's Rights: promote participation of women in both spiritual and organizational matters. 
  • Empowerment Through Education and Awareness: Spiritual access to Buddhist teachings and practices that support their spiritual development, personal growth thereby contributing to community welfare.
  • Breaking Stereotypes: To challenge traditional gender stereotypes that may restrict women’s roles and to create a more inclusive and equitable environment for women to grow.
  • Social Welfare: To actively engage in charitable work, such as supporting the underprivileged, advocating for women's rights, and addressing social issues like domestic violence, poverty, child abuse, education and health care. This objective reflects the Buddhist commitment to compassionate action (Karuna) and social responsibility (Sangha).
  • Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue: To promote dialogue and cooperation with other religious and cultural groups, encouraging mutual respect and understanding while working together for common humanitarian causes.
  • Supporting Mental and Emotional Well-being: To create safe and supportive environments where women can share their experiences, build community, and receive guidance and inspiration from each other as a team.

President Message

As the first elected President of the LBA Women’s Wing. I look forward to the journey together towards uplifting each other. As a team, we all can come together with purpose and passion to bring about meaningful change, not just in our own lives but also in the communities we serve.
As women, we embody strength, resilience, and compassion. Together, we have raised our voices for equality, driven initiatives for preserving our rich cultural heritage and make significant strides towards breaking barriers in all walks of life. Each day, we must continue to work for the upliftment of our Buddhist community by balancing between preserving the ancient heritage and welcoming the positive aspects of the modern world.  
As your President, I am deeply committed to ensuring that our wing remains a space where women are not just heard, but are given the platform to lead, inspire, and make decisions. We will continue to focus on skill development and networking to help each one of us rise higher.

The journey ahead is bright, and I am excited to continue this mission with each of you by my side.
