The Mediation Committee, which is popularly known as Shaks Committee consists of members who are well versed in legal field, have interpersonal skills, negotiation skills and good judgement.The Mediation Committee's task is to help people resolve disputes by facilitating discussion and guiding them toward a mutually acceptable agreement. The Committee resolves many complex disputes and issues in the shortest possible duration without involving any cost. The members of the committee who are basically mediators, are neutral third parties. They call the parties involved in a dispute to their office to help them negotiate a resolution.The Mediation Committee receives complaints of various nature including: family disputes-such as problems between family members over entitlements after a bereavement, or issues around property, children, and other assets during separation or divorce,business transactions-such as problems that can arise when parties fail to agree on the final price of a business asset sale, or compensation for laid-off staff, housing matters-such as tenant/landlord disputes, commercial disputes-such as neighbour issues.
Ms Kunzang Yangdol is a dedicated leader and social worker from Chemrey village, Kharu block, born on June 20, 1969. With a strong commitment to community service, she has made significant contributions to the lives of people in her region.
From 2005 to 2019, Ms Yangdol worked closely with the medical department, empowering communities through education on health hygiene practices, antenatal care and maternal health, and nutrition for mothers and babies. Her tireless efforts have positively impacted the well-being of countless individuals and families.
In 2019, Ms Yangdol was elected as Sarpanch of Chemrey village, a position she held until 2024. During her tenure, she successfully implemented various developmental projects, bringing transformative changes to the village. Her leadership and vision have left a lasting impact on the community. She has also been actively involved in movements and protests initiated by Leh Apex Body for Ladakh's four-point agenda.
Ms Yangdol has now taken on the role of Senior Vice President, LBA Women Wing, leveraging her experience and expertise to drive positive change and development in her region. Her dedication to public service and community empowerment continues to inspire and benefit those around her.
