The members of LBA heritage committee led by the Sr Vice-President of LBA Sh. Rigzin Dorjay had an audience with His Eminence Thukras Rinpoche today on 19th October and discussed on heritage preservation and challenges in Ladakh. The Convener of Heritage Committee, Dr Sonam Wangchok gave a detailed presentation about several issues related to heritage preservation and challenges, particularly not having any official body of heritage authority and guidelines in Ladakh to avoid destruction of heritage sites in the name of development and improper restoration works. His Eminence Thuksras Rinpoche while appreciating the efforts of heritage committee advised the members to organise more awareness programme to educate people about the values of heritage and their preservation. Rinpoche extended his full support to organize awareness programmes in villages. Rinpoche also assure the committee that he will talk to the concerned authorities for early implementation of heritage authority in Ladakh. Lastly, the committee members have handed over the LBA heritage guideline to Rinpoche.
